Pitt Community College's Baseball Team Blanks Cecil CC In Season Opener

JD Cook set the tone for the Bulldogs in the 1st inning of the season opener striking out the side.  He would throw 6 complete innings with no walks and 10 strikeouts giving way to reliever Josh Little in the 7th, retiring all three batters he faced.  The lone hit came in the 5th inning, after a valiant effort from second baseman Tommy Bullock's diving play only to see the ball trickle into center field.

The Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the 1st which was all it would need for the win.  Scoring would continue in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th inning for a total of 6 runs. Leading hitters were Levi Gesell w 1-3 with and double and 1 RBI,  Daniel Millwee 1-3 2 RBI, Greg White 2-3 1 RBI, and Trevor Denton 1-2 with a double and 1 RBI.

Pitching, defense and timely hitting were the keys to success in the first game of the year.  The Bulldogs face, Potomac State at 2:30 and Catawba Valley at 5:00 and are hoping for the same recipe for success tomorrow.
