PAIR OF FORMER BULLDOGS SET TO COMPETE IN WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC

Two former Pitt CC Baseball players, Martin Zelenka and Jan Pospisil, will compete in this year's World Baseball Classic for the Czech Republic National Team.

Zelenka played for the Bulldogs from 2021-2023 before moving on to UNC Wilmington where he played his final two seasons.  During his time at Pitt, Martin notched a career .367 batting average with 84 total RBI's and 24 home runs.

Pospisil was with Pitt CC in 2024 and 2025 and is currently continuing his career at North Greenville University.  In his two seasons as a Bulldog, Pospisil batted .348 and drove in 76 runs.

"The World Baseball Classic is an amazing experience where you can see the best of the best, and it shows how the best teams take advantage of every little mistake you make.  In a tournament like this, every run counts so you have to be perfect to give yourself a chance to compete." - Martin Zelenka

"Playing in the World Baseball Classic is an honor as it is the worlds best stage.  Competing against the best players in the world means so much for someone like me who is from a small country and went through a lot of different baseball including my two years at Pitt CC (which were awesome!)." - Jan Pospisil

"We are incredibly proud of Martin and Jan.  It's always special to see former players represent their country and compete at the highest levels of the game." - Pitt CC Head Coach Tommy Eason

The Czech Republic begins pool play tomorrow morning at 6:00 AM ET against Team Japan at the Tokyo Dome.
