Baseball Splits With Florence-Darlington

WINTERVILLE, NC -The Bulldogs walked away 2-2 this weekend against the Stingers in a non-conference series. Florence-Darlington won both games Saturday and the Bulldogs were able to win both Sunday contests.

GAME 1 RECAP: Pitt watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-2 loss to Florence Darlington on Saturday.

Florence Darlington took an early lead in the second inning on a Tyler Crowe two RBI triple. William Strong earned the win for Florence Darlington. He tossed five and two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, striking out three, and walking one. Jay Causey recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Florence Darlington. Justin Walke took the loss for Pitt. He pitched four and a third innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, and striking out three.

FINAL SCORE: FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 5 PITT 2.

GAME 2 RECAP: Florence Darlington took an early lead in the first inning on Tyler Anshaw three run home run and that would be all the Stingers would need.

Logan Welch took the loss for Pitt Community College Bulldogs Varsity. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, two hits, and striking out three. Alex Hursey started the game for Florence Darlington. He tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out eight, and walking one.

FINAL SCORE: FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 8 PITT 0.

GAME 3 RECAP: The bats were hot in Sunday's first game. The Bulldogs tallied 8 runs on 12 hits in an 8-4 victory. Andrew Blake was outstanding on the mound, earning the win to improve his record to 4-0. Daniel Millwee, Drew Piscorik, and Mason Pickard all recorded multiple hits for the Bulldogs.

FINAL SCORE: PITT 8 FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 4.

GAME 4 RECAP: Pitt picked up where they left off offensively in game two Sunday. The Bulldogs recorded 7 runs on 7 hits en route to a 7-1 victory. Dominick Cammarata led the way with 3 hits including a double and home run. Patrick Wheeler also added three knocks. Shelton Perkins turned in his best performance of the year on the mound allowing 1 run on 2 hits and recording 3 strikeouts in a complete game effort.

FINAL SCORE: PITT 7 FLORENCE-DARLINGTON 1.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, March 8th at Louisburg at 6:00PM.
